Friday Favourites + Episode 41 of the Chase the Red Grape Podcast

Hi all,

Have you ever watched a TV series all the way through, from beginning to end, in one go?

I’m talking every season was available to you when you started watching and you just went for it?

That’s what I did every lunchtime for the past 4 months… I went through the entire collection of Gilmore Girls – including the ‘year in the life’ recent addition.

I never had the chance to watch Gilmore Girls originally as it wasn’t shown in the UK. But after months of seeing everyone and their left arm talking about it, I thought I would give it a go.

Now it’s over I feel this sense of loss. Crazy I know! But if I am honest I think it’s probably to do with the end leading to a disruption in my lunchtime routine… which I had down to an art. I hate disruptions but I guess they only show me where I am comfortable, leading me on to the question ‘now change has to happen, what do I want to do’? I feel like once we move in 2 weeks time to another apartment and my routine is displaced again, I will find out.

This disruption will be good. I’m not going to let that nervous niggle of change stop me. So long Gilmore Girls, you were good but now I’m choosing change!

(On another note… what the hell was with that ending? Surely it has to come back…?).Friday - chase the red grape

But now time for some Friday Favourites!

Favourite…Moment – Book Sale!books - chase the red grape

On Saturday David and I went to a charity second hand book sale. I was in reading heaven! Every type of book you could think of, I didn’t know where to start! We spent almost 2 hours looking through them all, reading, laughing, reminiscing (I LOVED the children’s section), so much happiness!

Favourite… Feeling – Sunshine Walkchase the red grape perth

Sundays are for coffee walks in the sun and now Spring is approaching we are able to do just that. We had a walk down by the river, sun beaming on our faces… it was a lovely calm time.

Favourite… Purchase – Books of course!books - chase the red grape

I bought a few history books, Christmas books (I adore Christmas and it’s traditions), classics and even a couple of Famous Five books. I will be kept busy for sure.

Favourite… Food/Drink – Nitro Cold Brew from DiMattinanitro cold brew - chase the red grape

We had to go get our windscreen replaced (boo) so while we waited we went for a wonder to grab a coffee. Holy smokes I did not expect to find the most amazing coffee shop with the best on tap nitro cold brew. It was so smooth with the perfect head on it…. looked exactly like a Guinness – it even had the same velvety texture!

Favourite… Moment of training – Taking ownership

I am tired right now and my body is showing it. The beginning of the week was rough but then, the past two days, I decided to take ownership, back off on certain things and chose when and when not to push. I may still feel tired but my head feels in control and that makes a huge difference.

Weekend Plans – Saturday – Massage (yes!), lunch out and then start to pack. Sunday – Pancakes, newspapers, coffee walk and podcasting!

Have a fab weekend folks!

Are you a Gilmore Girls fan?

Have any recent changes made you rethink your routine?

Do you buy second hand books?

It’s always bittersweet when a good show ends, although I still haven’t watched all four of the season episodes. I think I’ve only done the first three so I don’t know anything about the end. Eep.

Bookstores are one of my favorite places to hang out. Retail and reading therapy all in one central location. Oh and a good one will have coffee.

I don’t understand it here – there are very few bookstores (buying a book is super expensive and we don’t have amazon…) and the ones they do have don’t have coffee in sight! Thank goodness our library has an awesome coffee joint inside!

Wooo Gilmore Girls!!! Meg would be so proud! She’s the one that got me on it. I’ve never been a huge “watch the whole series” kind of girl either, but Gilmore Girls… you just have to. I don’t think I liked the new season, but the rest of it just gave me this big sense of comfort. I totally know how being done a show like that, which gave you a sense of routine, can leave you with a down feeling.

Um. On tap nitro brewed coffee. So…. this is something I must try then, yes? I can’t believe it looks like guiness.

Have any recent changes made you rethink your routine? —-> Yup. I had a few rather large “hiccups” in my week that had me shifting my routine all around and re-thinking a lot of things. Plus my change in exercise has put a big difference into my life. A lot more “free” time, which I’m excited to put to good use. But those changes always present a lot of feelings to sift through.

I enjoyed the new season of Gilmore Girls but hate being left with answers. Especially when there is no word on if it will even return!
You must hunt out nitro brew – oh it’s amazing! It’s smooth and velvety like a strong beer… texture heaven!

Oh goodness, that book sale would have sent me into a state of bliss. And lightened my wallet for sure. It’s a real pity we don’t have these around here.
Gilmore Girls is my favourite show ever. Actually the only show I ever got interested in enough to stick with it from first to final episode. Though – also due to not having access to Netflix anymore – I have yet to watch the final two episodes of the “new” season. It didn’t feel quite as good anymore, either.
The way you’re accepting or even embracing the changes coming up in your life is wonderful. Change of any kind can be hard to work through.

Oh the book sale was incredible. I could have spent the whole day there just flicking, reading and sifting through all there was to offer! To be honest it’s the first of it’s kind I have ever seen.
I hope you manage to find a way to watch the last two episodes of Gilmore Girls. I can 100% testify that the last two episodes in the first series were so much better than the first two.

I thought I was the only one who hadn’t watched Gilmore Girls… then I caved. Now I’m sure David and I are the only ones who don’t watch Game of Thrones!
I haven’t watched Big Little Lies because I can’t figure out which streaming service it is on here in Aus – I will find it though because I have heard amazing things about it!
