Friday Favourites + Ep 25 of the Chase the Red Grape Podcast

Hi all,

So the day has finally come. I knew it would someday, I just didn’t know how soon.

I had to get glasses.

Now I am not one to toot my own horn, but my vision is still excellent (I can still read the bottom line of the text at the eye test!). But more and more time spent on screens was making my eye muscles really tired and sore. So the glasses will just give me a little boost to help my eyes stay strong, heathy and not strained.

I do however take this as a note for some personal reflection. My eyes are telling me ‘hey Jen, stop looking at a screen all day will you’. So as much as I will be using these glasses when I need to, I will also be reassessing the time I spend all day looking at screens. I, luckily, control my day so I can control my screen time. Wish me luck!Friday - chase the red grape

Now time for some Friday Favourites!

Favourite… Moment – Greendaygreenday - chase the red grape

Everything I could have hoped for and more. 26 of my favourite songs, dancing and singing the night away, all beside the man who I had met exactly 12 years previous. One of the best nights of my life, truly!

Favourite… Feeling – Laughter

Jason Byrne - chase the red grape

Waiting for our main man!

Have you ever been literally bowled over with laughter? That’s exactly what we got when we saw Jason Byrne on Saturday. High expectations as we had seen him before but he did not disappoint. Laughter really does make you glow inside and out!

Favourite… Purchase – My glasses!glasses - chase the red grape

See above – I’m glad I went with the bright blue!

Favourite… Food/Drink – Indian Foodfood - chase the red grape

David and I checked out the last Hawkers market of the season in the Perth CBD and decided on some Indian food for dinner. Too dark for a picture but we loved dancing away to the Cuban band behind us. The goat curry and mango lassi in particular were on point!

Updates – 5TTT + Episode 25 of the Chase the Red Grape Podcastgratitude - chase the red grape

For 5 top tips on a Tuesday we looked at gratitude and how we should really look at how we can embrace it in our lives before dismissing it as a the red grape podcast

This weeks podcast episode looked at coming back into sport as an adult. It’s bloody scary not coming from a sports background and having the fear of being judged but once you jump that hurdle it can be so rewarding. Listen now on iTunes, Stitcher or via the website.

Favourite moment of training – Deadlifts

Did a simple 2 rep deadlift during training today and it felt good. Sounds corny but deadlifts always make me feel happy and empowered!

Weekend Plans – Out tonight for a birthday party and then… Saturday – weekly shop, maybe lunch out, podcasting and food prep. Sunday – pancakes and newspapers, coffee out and a wonder around a local street festival. Then chill!

Have a fab weekend guys!

Do you wear glasses?

Do you like Indian food?

What was the last thing that had you bowled over with laughter?

The best Indian food, and maybe the best wedding food that I have ever had, period, was at the Indian wedding we went to last year. It was amazing. I typically can’t eat at Indian restaurants because I can only have bits and pieces (the ghee + coconut milk + cream overloads my stomach) so buffet style with some American foods mixed in (like plain veggies, etc) meant that I could have fun!

I’m so glad you had the opportunity to try some Indian food in a way that your tummy could tolerate. I just adore how much flavour they pack into their food!

Thanks Cora! Had my glasses a whole week now and I am definitely getting used to them. And oh boy do my eyes feel less tired with them on.
You are spot on with laughter being a great ab workout… mine were so sore afterwards! 🙂

Thanks Laura! David has had glasses since he was 2 years old but has never worn contacts, just doesn’t like them. Saying that he looks really odd without glasses, they are his defining feature! In an extremely good way of course!

Green Day, laughter, good Indian food and Cuban music….it sounds like heaven. I’d say you have a lot to be grateful for in this favorites post. Happy Anniversary (or meet-iversary) to you and David.

PS. You are rocking those specs.
