Friday Favourites +Episode 18 of the Chase the Red Grape Podcast

Hi all,

You guys know me, right? You know I am a positive kinda person. But when it comes to me and plants/ flowers, my positivity ends. I have no faith in myself and the ability to cultivate, or even keep alive, plants. I used to think it was sad. Now I just relate it as fact.

Well blow me down have I been proved wrong. We have a herb box outside on our balcony that for months looked like it had lived in a desert all its life. Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that the chives are developing. ‘Not possible’ my brain told me…

Now I have chives I could cut to put on my eggs fro breakfast! And the parsley is coming in too! True the basil and rosemary are very much worse for wear but that’s beside the point! Maybe I should start actually watering them… now there’s a thought….Friday - chase the red grape

But enough of my green fingers! Time for some Friday Favourites!

Favourite… Moment – Drinks at the zoozoo - chase the red grape

Last Friday we went to the zoo for post work drinks! We weren’t able to walk around the zoo but we were in a special garden for hosting functions complete with massive Koi and a neighbouring kangaroo and quokka. Sadly, due to getting up early the next day for 17.3 we couldn’t stay long but the canapés and sparkling wine were on point! Such a lovely setting. (In the plant pot was pickled veggies topped with goats cheese and pumpkin puree – yum!).

Favourite… Feeling – Waiting for the show to begin!matilda - chase the red grape

On Sunday David and I went to see Matilda! I love that feeling of sitting in the theatre waiting for a show to begin, so much excitement and buzz. I have seen dozens of stage shows in my lifetime and it never gets old. Ever since I was 7 and my Mum took me to see Fame – hooked!

Favourite… Food – Honest Pop PopcornPopcorn - chase the red grape

Organic, non GMO, cooked in coconut oil? Yes I had to try this popcorn! And it was delicious! Coconut maple flavoured too – genius combo!

Favourite… Purchase – Apple Cider Vinegaracv - chase the red grape

I bought some ACV to have when I was sick and I completely forget why it’s not an everyday part of my routine! I am back to drinking it with some hot lemon water in the morning when I first get up and it really does revive and set my body up for the day!

Weekly Updates – 5TTT + Episode 18 of the Chase the Red Grape Podcastlike-me - chase the red grape

This weeks 5 top tips on a Tuesday looked at why you don’t have to be like me. I am a huge advocate for one size DOES NOT fit all and these were some of the reasons why.podcast - chase the red grape

The latest episode of the podcast focused on meal planning and why taking away the choice of ‘what to have to eat’ everyday leaves so much room in your brain for other things! Full of laughs and banter as always. Check it out on iTunes and Stitcher or click here to listen online.

Favourite… Workout – 17.3 snatch

snatch - chase the red grape

Me on one of the lighter snatches

My movement patterns for a snatch are on point, even if I do say so myself. Where I struggle is when the weight starts to come on. I was looking forward to 17.3 but had no expectations. Well not only did I PR my snatch I managed to do 3 of them! #OpenMoment

Weekend Plans – Saturday – 17.4, recovery, food prep and a car wash! Sunday – Pancakes and newspapers, coffee and a walk along the beach to visit Sculptures by the Sea! Podcasting and chill.

Hope you have a fab weekend folks!

Can you keep plants alive?

Are you on a popcorn kick right now?

What do you use apple cider vinegar for?

I would honestly move to the States just to feast out on your popcorn supply! We only have about 2-3 good options here in Australia so when I found this I was super excited!
I would stick to apps in pots over plants in pots any day! 🙂

I think you, Suz and I need to go to a helpless-botanists spa treatment centre. Or just take our black thumbs out for a stiff drink (we can atleast “water” OURSELVES right?) Just before I read this I was looking up to this little cactus plant I have on my bookshelf and thought, “huh, I don’t think I’ve watered you in a month.” And don’t ask about the pot of “roses” I have on my window sill…..

Congratulations on the PR snatch!! What a thing to give up self expectations eh? Its amazing what a little relaxation and open mindedness can do to our massive inner super hero strength.

I love that you love musicals. So much. I can’t wait till one day I can be performing in some touring show, maybe on the West End, and give you and David free tickets. What did you think of Matilda??

    Have a wonderful weekend lady.

Sometimes I think I should do a class on indoor gardening… then I remember that lesson 1 would probably be ‘water your plants’… why can I never remember to do that?!
Ooooh I keep everything crossed for you that one day you will achieve everything you want to achieve on stage. Whether that be West End, Broadway or with a fab theatre company. But just remember, I would go and see you in anything if I lived a little closer 🙂
Matilda was good. The set and stage production was the real winner though, that was amazing. The songs were great too. Is it up there with some of my all time favourites? No. But I am still glad I went to see it!

I got two pots of flowers for my birthday two weeks ago. Killed them already 😛 I am desperately trying to keep my pot of sage alive until I make gnocchi in sage butter this week. I am hopeless and I don’t understand why people still give me plants as a gift. Must be plant haters 😉

I already heard about your PR on the podcast. Congratulations!!! I can understand how happy this must make you. I got a new PR on shoulder presses and push presses last week and I was happy all day 🙂

Did you like Matilda? I love the movie and I’d love to see the musical!

Oooh I hope you manage to keep your sage alive. Sage butter = food of the gods!
Well done on the PR’s – I don’t know about you but PR’s in overhead work always make me feel even more excited, they are so hard to get! Especially shoulder press!
Matilda was good and I am really glad I went to see it. It’s not up there with my favourite musicals of all time but it definitely did justice to the book.

I wish we could have stayed at the zoo longer but the PR the following day certainly made up for it! Hope you enjoy the podcast lovelies! 🙂
